Health and Safety Administrator
Spire Dunedin Hospital is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Administrator to support the Health and Safety Manager in coordinating and implementing the delivery of Health and Safety at the facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality and safe care and services at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System folder.
- Collate H&S incidents from Datix reports, identifying trends and near misses.
- Update local health and safety arrangements and policies as required, distributing them throughout the facility.
- Maintain the Hospital Wide Action Plan spreadsheet, following up on outstanding actions as directed by the Health and Safety Manager.
- Administer Health and Safety Flash alerts, responding to the central health and safety team within 7 days and collating departmental responses.
- Manage Health and Safety Training records, assisting with course registration and issuing certificates as required.
- Advise the Health and Safety Manager on actions or risk assessments not being managed in a timely manner.
- Take minutes and distribute minutes of all Health and Safety meetings, including Water, Fire, Waste management, and Safety Representatives meetings.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in the healthcare industry or a similar customer-oriented organization.
- 3 years of administration experience, ideally in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of Health and Safety and risk issues, as well as relevant legislation.
- Competent user of the MS Office suite of products.
- Ability to manage competing pressures and conflicting priorities effectively.
- Proactive and self-motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and team working skills.
- Car driver, ideally.
