Role Responsibilities

As a Tax Compliance Advisor, you will play a crucial role in managing all tax-related functions within the organization. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating all aspects of outsourced corporation tax compliance, including the preparation of supporting documentation and reviewing tax returns.
  • Managing VAT compliance processes, ensuring accurate and timely submission of VAT returns.
  • Identifying and evaluating R&D tax relief opportunities, collaborating with external advisors and relevant departments to collect necessary information.
  • Engaging in tax planning and proactive assessments to minimize tax liabilities and enhance the company's overall tax strategy.
  • Staying informed about changes in tax legislation and regulations, evaluating their implications for the organization, and implementing necessary compliance measures.
  • Providing expert tax guidance to internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, treasury, and senior management teams.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions for financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and/or tax certifications (e.g., CTA) are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a tax role within the financial services sector or a similar regulated environment, with a solid understanding of UK tax laws.
  • Proven expertise in corporation tax, VAT, and R&D tax relief, including hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns and claims.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex tax legislation and provide actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in tax software and the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
