Nurse Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse to join our Abdominal Transplant Co-ordinator Team as a Living Kidney Donor Nurse Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a background in renal nursing or transplantation to support potential donors through the assessment process and ensure a high standard of person-centred care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing effective management and organisational skills, coordinating and facilitating the living donor programme, and delivering counselling to potential donors and recipients. They will also progress to facilitating transplants from deceased donors as part of an on-call rota.

Main Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Organising medical investigations and managing a patient caseload.
  • Delivering high-quality care and support to patients and their families.
  • Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure seamless care pathways.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a compassionate approach to patient care, and the ability to work within legal and ethical guidelines surrounding organ donation.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current NMC registration and a degree-level qualification in nursing.
  • Extensive post-registration experience in a relevant specialty, including renal nursing or transplantation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A current driving licence, if relevant to the role.
