Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering and Operations to lead the engineering activities at one of our key manufacturing sites. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Team Management: Recruit, develop, and mentor engineering staff to ensure the team is equipped to meet business needs.
  • Engineering Operations: Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to support manufacturing operations and process improvements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Health and Safety regulations, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Project Management: Lead or support engineering projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing capabilities, implementing new technologies, or upgrading existing infrastructure/equipment.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage the engineering department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to support business objectives.
  • Capital Expenditure: Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and make recommendations for investment in new equipment, technology upgrades, or facility expansions.
  • Supplier Management: Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on engineering and manufacturing operations.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP, FDA, MHRA).
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills and ability to manage senior stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies used in engineering/manufacturing.
  • Education: Either a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant practical work expertise in a similar position.
