Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Physical Development Coach to join our team at Cardiff Metropolitan University. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality physical development sessions to young athletes, with a focus on strength and conditioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver age-related coaching plans suitable for children with differing sporting and conditioning needs
  • Coach within the Youth Physical Development Centre and demonstrate practical techniques as required
  • Collect, analyse, interpret and disseminate fitness testing data from children within the Centre
  • Maintain currency with strength and conditioning governing body initiatives and make every effort to gain additional qualifications
  • Maintain awareness of and act in accordance with current legislation in terms of Child Protection and Health & Safety

Requirements

  • An in-depth knowledge of strength and conditioning, ideally in a youth population
  • A good understanding of pedagogy
  • Ability to design and deliver a range of physical development sessions for various teams / athletes of different maturity status
  • Ability to collect, process, and interpret monitoring (training load) and testing (strength, power, speed, anthropometric) data
  • Ability to review programme design on a regular basis with the coaching team, and make alterations where appropriate
  • An understanding of safeguarding when working with children
  • A good honours degree
  • A recognised S&C qualification (such as UKSCA, NSCA or equivalent) or having graduated from a professionally recognised undergraduate degree
