Job Summary

The Production Team Leader is a key role responsible for overseeing a team of production workers, ensuring the seamless and efficient operation of the production area. This leadership position requires a detail-oriented professional with robust leadership skills and an in-depth understanding of production processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communication:
    • Conduct structured morning meetings and daily communication with the team to ensure clear communication of targets and objectives.
    • Build and maintain direct relationships with customers, providing clear communication on all aspects of day-to-day operations.
    • Escalate relevant issues promptly to the Production Manager.
  • Safety:
    • Collaborate with the H&S officer and committee to reduce risks in the area through effective risk assessments.
    • Ensure a safe working environment for staff through regular safety controls audits.
    • Investigate accidents and enforce all safety controls in the area.
    • Conduct return-to-work interviews to ensure the fitness of staff returning after absence.
  • Quality:
    • Carry out full investigations and provide clear accurate responses to customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
    • Ensure accurate internal data capture and the daily logging and recording of reject data within the QA system.
    • Conduct audits to ensure all work in the area meets company standards.
  • Cost:
    • Implement actions to reduce or mitigate off-track hours against the visual plan.
    • Accurately record planned downtime, including classroom training and project time.
    • Ensure team engagement with targets and objectives.
    • Validate and approve production hours in the ERP system.
  • Delivery:
    • Develop a visual plan for the team aligned with the work-to-list, outlining expectations for each team member.
    • Advocate for the customer and uphold the promised delivery date.
    • Keep customers and systems fully updated on any delays and expected planned dates.
    • Coordinate with other departments to address exceptions.
  • People:
    • Manage staff performance through the QCD measures to achieve and then to improve company standards.
    • Reward and recognize good performance.
    • Optimize workgroup efficiency through effective time/attendance management.
    • Identify coaching needs and opportunities for improvement.
    • Maintain company standards by dealing with conduct issues in an effective and timely manner.
