We are looking for a committed and empathetic Student Behaviour Support Assistant to become part of a dynamic secondary educational institution. This full-time role provides a unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of students who need extra behavioural and emotional assistance. You will collaborate closely with educators, pastoral teams, and fellow support staff to foster a welcoming and inclusive educational atmosphere for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small group assistance to students facing behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Support classroom educators in managing student behaviour and cultivating a constructive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students to establish trust and promote positive conduct.
  • Track and report on student progress, noting any shifts in behaviour or engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to devise and execute strategies that address students' behavioural and emotional requirements.
  • Engage in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in this position.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational context.
  • A solid understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young individuals.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of individual students and the broader educational environment.
  • An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Qualifications related to education, childcare, or special educational needs.
  • Experience supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation methods and positive behaviour interventions.

All pay rates mentioned will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.
