Project Overview:
The Digital Preservation Coalition is seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team as part of the AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership Scheme. This fully funded studentship will explore the challenges of capturing, selecting, and archiving digital data sets for future accessibility and interoperability.
Research Focus:
The project will focus on the historic High Street, examining the impact of COVID-19 on retail and residential demand. The researcher will investigate the formats of digital data sets generated by stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on new developments in complex digital data sources such as laser scanning and LIDAR.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on digital data management systems and their potential for better sharing, accessibility, and interoperability
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the heritage sector's challenges and opportunities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address the needs of the historic High Street
Supervision and Support:
The student will be jointly supervised by experts from the University of York and Historic England, with access to a wider cohort of CDP funded students across the UK. The studentship can be studied either full or part-time.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital preservation, heritage studies, or a related field. Excellent research and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
