In light of ongoing growth and success in key industry areas, Century Group is currently on the lookout for a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Engineer to become a part of our dynamic and challenging engineering team.

As a crucial member of the multi-disciplinary Engineering Services group, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will offer technical guidance to the entire team in mechanical and structural engineering and design across all projects or products within the Defence, Mining, Power, and Water sectors. The role encompasses, but is not limited to:

Technical Guidance:

  • Provide strategic direction in the development of our mechanical systems or products, ensuring they remain competitive in the marketplace.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, leading initiatives in the mechanical discipline while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Build and sustain beneficial relationships with other experts and industry peers, staying informed about emerging design and engineering trends to enhance product design and engineering practices.
  • Mentor and support junior mechanical engineers, contributing to their professional and technical skill enhancement.

Product Development:

  • Oversee design processes to create high-quality, functional, and user-centered product designs, ensuring solutions are robust and efficient.
  • Actively engage in all mechanical engineering tasks from client interaction, concept development, to detailed engineering and drafting.
  • Provide technical support and sign-off throughout the product lifecycle, from cost estimation to detailed design and implementation.
  • Offer expert technical advice on fabrication processes and contribute to the development of new technologies and capabilities.

Project Engineering and Support:

  • Deliver expert mechanical engineering advice for the design and execution of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including tender proposals, front-end engineering, and testing.
  • Conduct technical reviews and sign-off on mechanical deliverables, including design reports and drawings.
  • Collaborate with clients and other engineers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project deliverables.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and uphold stringent quality control and testing protocols to guarantee product reliability.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of design and engineering processes for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Adhere to engineering best practices, ensuring compliance with relevant technical standards and guidelines.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Provide expert guidance on legal implications related to engineering activities.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Chartered Professional Engineer status in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in mechanical design, particularly in steelwork design and product development.
