About the Role:

Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting our world-leading radar and electro-optic products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative mechanical solutions using state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical accuracy and feasibility of designs.
  • Perform stress and thermal analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, build, and product support.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers in technical knowledge and soft skills.
  • Provide technical direction and support on critical business programs.
  • Investigate and resolve technical problems, and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support and facilitate reviews and sign-off of mechanical designs.
  • Champion improvements in product manufacturability and build effective relationships with suppliers.
  • Support the mechanical management team in process and departmental improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Mechanical Engineer with proven experience in a Senior or Principal level role.
  • Minimum of an upper second-class Masters Honours degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably Creo.
  • Chartered Engineer with IMechE or equivalent, or ability to demonstrate UK-SPEC competencies.
  • Strong mentorship and technical guidance skills.
