Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Design Engineer / Drafting Lead at Century Group, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining best practices for fabrication design and drafting services, including documentation to ISO9001 standards.

You will oversee mechanical drafting practice across the Group to ensure completeness, quality, accuracy, and consistency of engineering drawings and effective revision control.

Additionally, you will provide expert fabrication advice to the workshop floor for opportunities of improvement in manufacturing process.

Furthermore, you will mentor and provide technical guidance to young engineers and drafters in the area of engineering drawing practice and fabrication design.

Design and Development

You will assist in the conception, design, and development of mechanical systems, components, and equipment.

You will create 3D models and generate General Arrangement drawings to meet engineering and design requirements, ensuring engineering design is executed accurately.

You will identify and select appropriate manufacturing processes to ensure the durability, cost-effectiveness, and performance of components and systems.

Finally, you will continuously evaluate and refine fabrication design practice to improve safety, efficiency, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high performance standards.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

They will have 8 years of experience in steel work fabrication design, with a strong foundation in CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD).

They will have a track record of experience in the execution of fabrication design and drawings of complex mechanical plants and systems.

They will be proficient in CAD software and have knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to mechanical design and fabrication processes.

Finally, they will have attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality designs.
