About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior In-Service Support Engineer to join our Defence team at Ultra Maritime. As a key member of our In-Service Support team, you will be responsible for providing back-office engineering support to our field service teams and end users to enable them to achieve mission success, 24/7/365, anywhere in the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Delivery: Work closely with the Project Manager, Project Engineering Lead, System Design Authority, and customers to ensure the delivery of our In-Service support obligations.
  • Support Project Approaches: Ensure that support project approaches remain relevant and in line with Defence Standards and other policies as identified in customer contracts.
  • Technical Issue Resolution: Provide a proactive response to emerging technical issues, including customer fault reports and technical queries.
  • Solution Development: Work closely with the engineering team to develop solutions that are technically and commercially acceptable.
  • System Performance Management: Manage and monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis of faults, and seek opportunities to improve the in-service delivery performance of our products.
  • Programme Implementation: Define and lead the implementation of programmes of inspection and preventative maintenance.
  • Customer Equipment Safety: Ensure that customer equipment remains safe and suitable for continued service.
  • Field Support Coordination: Coordinate and cooperate with the field support team to conduct equipment defect investigations, surveys, integration, and acceptance testing.
  • Integrated Logistics Support: Manage Integrated Logistics Support documentation and implement change requests as required.
  • Resource Management: Highlight resource conflicts or constraints to engineering management.
  • Engineering Work Planning: Produce estimates for new engineering work (e.g., redesign, obsolescence) and plan the work.
  • Engineering Excellence: Instil Engineering best practices and processes to enhance engineering excellence and promote continuous improvement.
  • Obsolescence Strategies: Implement the obsolescence strategies for a product line.
Requirements
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher diploma in a Management, Asset Management, Logistics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience: Significant experience in Defence engineering and/or Logistics and/or as a senior engineer throughout the Integration, Test, and In-Service phase of the lifecycle.
  • Leadership Experience: Provided leadership and worked in the management of the latter aspects of the CADMID/T cycle.
  • Support Task Planning: Demonstrated the ability to plan and execute support tasks on engineering projects.
  • Engineering Project Management: Shown an awareness of engineering project management principles (e.g., work package, dependency, and risk management).
  • Tight Deadline Management: Multiple examples of times when you have worked under tight time constraints, in challenging contexts.
  • Maritime Equipment Experience: A background working with maritime equipment would be a bonus.

  • Security Clearance: Hold or be capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC) or higher with no caveats.
  • Driving License: Possess a full driving license. This role is office-based with occasional travel across Ultra sites and to customer and supplier locations.
