Senior Biomedical Scientist - Histopathology

Salary: £45,000 (Dependent on Experience)

As a Senior Biomedical Scientist at Nuffield Health, you will possess the necessary qualifications and laboratory expertise in Histopathology and multidisciplinary biomedical science. Your proficiency with various analytical instruments across multiple techniques will be essential. You will also excel in communication and teamwork, aligning with our commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your extensive knowledge of Histopathology to mentor and develop fellow staff members.
  • Oversee and perform routine histopathological procedures including dissection, microtomy, embedding, manual coverslipping, troubleshooting, reagent validation, and participation in external quality assessment schemes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of specimens, results, reagents, and laboratory supplies.
  • Assist in the validation and evaluation of new histopathological equipment.
  • Have the opportunity to pursue management qualifications or higher specialization in cellular pathology if desired.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of quality management systems necessary for accreditation.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • HCPC registration is mandatory.
  • Relevant laboratory experience in histopathology and multidisciplinary biomedical science.
  • Extensive expertise in histopathology, ideally supported by a specialist diploma.
  • Proficient understanding of various histological techniques, with experience in dissection preferred.
  • Familiarity with diverse analytical instruments across multiple techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of laboratory operations and daily management.
  • Ability to maintain excellent customer relationships and deliver high-quality service in a modern pathology setting.
  • A highly motivated and enthusiastic individual capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines.
