Design and Technical Services Coordinator Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design and Technical Services Coordinator to join our team at Dorchester Collection. As a key member of our design and technical services team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our design and technical strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide architectural and design support to major hotel development and refurbishment projects from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with internal and external design teams to comprehend design intent and client requirements.
  • Review and advise on the application of DC property standards, creating and modifying new standards as needed to support upcoming projects.
  • Interpret and interrogate drawings and technical specifications, and project documentation, to ensure designs adhere to brand guidelines, construction and Furniture Design Standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and coordinate with our hotels and corporate team in preparation and review of project milestones and annual and 10 year capital planning.
  • Prepare project reviews, research and advise on suitable development partners, and upkeep a list of relevant consultants and partners for upcoming projects.
  • Contribute to the definition, review and refinement of a set of project management tools and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior/Product Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in reading and working with architectural drawings, and good computer application skills including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Project software, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to review all project information including, but not limited to, local regulations, permitting guidelines, and site survey reports.
  • Previous experience in project documentation (design programming, design responsibility matrix, schedules etc), and ideally experience to develop project briefs.
  • Experience collating and/or assisting in the presentation of projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • English is the primary language used in our hotel. Ability to comfortably communicate in this language, while another language is welcome.
