Job Overview
We are looking for a Property Portfolio Manager to become a part of the BBC Workplace team. This is a permanent position that allows for a hybrid working model.
This role will report directly to the Head of Estate Management and will encompass all facets of property portfolio oversight, including the acquisition and disposal of real estate assets, as well as the daily management of the BBC's UK property holdings. You will collaborate with the team to develop strategic estate plans tailored to specific locations.

We deliver estate and facilities management services throughout the UK and oversee property transformation projects, creating outstanding spaces for staff and visitors alike. Our mission is to ensure that BBC properties are safe, secure, sustainable, and operational.
The BBC Workplace team collaborates with the Director, senior management, and various stakeholders to formulate and implement the property strategy, establish organization-wide estate policies, and coordinate regional team activities. We ensure effective governance, financial oversight, and support functions related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Security, High Risk, and Business Continuity.
Main Responsibilities
As the Property Portfolio Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the development of strategic estate plans and executing location-specific strategies.
- Enhancing the property portfolio to meet the needs of key stakeholders.
- Leading negotiations with external entities (e.g., landlords) to maintain the BBC's advantageous position regarding property management.
- Overseeing property acquisitions and disposals (both freehold and leasehold) and managing lease extensions or terminations as necessary.
- Preparing business cases and documentation to secure funding and support for property-related initiatives.
- Continuously seeking cost-effective enhancements in estate management and workplace services.
- Collaborating with internal and external legal teams on property matters and transactions.
- Providing timely property expertise to project managers and senior BBC personnel.
- Conducting site assessments across the BBC estate.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Professional membership of RICS or an equivalent qualification, with experience in a corporate property setting.
- A proven track record in delivering corporate property strategies while managing external consultants and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, with experience in formulating business-driven property strategies and recommendations.
- Experience in coordinating projects, supporting delivery, managing suppliers, and reporting.
- A comprehensive understanding of UK property markets and their key drivers.
- The ability to identify, create, and assess property options while building long-term relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in managing multi-let properties and related responsibilities, including service charges and stakeholder relations.
- Demonstrated skills in matrix management.
- Extensive experience in reviewing legal documents and collaborating with legal teams to finalize property-related agreements.
- Experience in analyzing and strategically planning property requirements.

Salary: Anticipated range of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on relevant skills, knowledge, and experience.
