Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team at Shropshire Council. As a Teaching Assistant with pastoral responsibilities, you will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing and achievement of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, including developing and implementing strategies to promote their emotional and social wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to identify and address the needs of students, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Support the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social skills and relationships among students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior and attendance.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of students and the school.
  • Knowledge of child development, learning theories, and special educational needs.
