Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Head of Department at Optima Plus Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the curriculum for Study Programmes, Apprenticeships, and Adult courses.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Curriculum Development: Assist the Head of Department in developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs of students and industry partners.
  2. Team Management: Manage staff and resources within the Multi-Skills & Trowel Trades area, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams.
  3. Student Outcomes: Contribute to improving student outcomes by upholding high performance standards, tracking progress, monitoring results, and motivating both staff and students.
  4. Operational Support: Provide day-to-day support to the Multi-Skills Trowel Trades teams, including developing and implementing a teaching support cover rota.
  5. Collaboration and Partnerships: Develop and maintain industry contacts to ensure currency of curriculum content and provide work experience opportunities.
  6. Quality Improvement: Work closely with the MIS team to ensure that flexible study programmes are accurately captured through the college's timetabling systems, and make effective use of Quality Improvement data to drive improvement.
  7. Attendance and Behaviour: Monitor and act upon poor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour in line with college processes and procedures, ensuring that area and College targets are met.
Requirements:
  1. Enhanced DBS Check: The successful candidate will require an Enhanced DBS check.
  2. Teachers' Pension: The role offers a Teachers' Pension scheme.
