About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as an Assistant Academy Manager at EFL. The successful candidate will be responsible for the managing and maintenance of the football programme for the academy, and assisting the academy manager in any duties they deem appropriate in line with their job description.

Key Responsibilities
  • Align Academy Coaching Plan with Club Philosophy: Ensure that the academy coaching plan is aligned to the EFL Football Club Philosophy, promoting a cohesive and effective approach to player development.
  • Develop Academy Playing Philosophy: Work with the academy head of coaching to develop the Academies playing philosophy, coaching philosophy, and coaching curriculum in line with the Head of Football's vision, driving excellence in player development and performance.
  • Deliver Technical Board: Assist in the delivery of the technical board, ensuring that all aspects of the academy's football programme are aligned and effective.
  • Support Retain and Release Decisions: Support decisions relating to retain and release, scholarship offers, and offers of professional contracts, ensuring that the academy's talent pipeline is optimized.
  • Develop Academy Recruitment Policy: Assist the Academy Manager in creating an academy recruitment policy, ensuring that the academy attracts and develops top talent.
  • Oversee Player Development: Oversee the development of academy players, ensuring that all players maximize their potential and develop pathways to produce 1st team players.
  • Drive Academy Performance Plan: Help develop, implement, and drive the academy performance plan, ensuring that the academy achieves its goals and objectives.
  • Support Departmental Heads: Support heads of departments in carrying out their managerial responsibilities, ensuring that the academy operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Club Departments: Work closely with other Heads of Department within the club, ensuring that the academy is aligned with the club's overall strategy and objectives.
  • Comply with Company Policies: Comply with all company policies and procedures, adhering to all company regulations regarding policies, procedures, health, safety, and security.
  • Support Academy Budget and Expenditure: Support the Academy Manager with the tracking of the academy budget and expenditure, ensuring that the academy operates within its means.
  • Evaluate Coach Competency Framework: Alongside the Head of Coaching, evaluate the coach competency framework, ensuring alignment within the academy.
  • Support Academy Audit Processes: Support all academy audit processes to secure the academy's category 3 status, ensuring that the academy meets the required standards.
About The Candidate

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in football development and management. The ideal candidate will have:

  • FA Level 4 (Uefa A) in Coaching Football: Essential qualification for the role.
  • Advanced Youth Award: Essential qualification for the role.
  • FA Safeguarding Certificate: Essential qualification for the role.
  • Coaching/Teaching/Sports Science related degree: Desirable qualification for the role.
  • Prior experience working within a category 2 or 3 Academy: Essential experience for the role.
  • Experience of working in a high-performance environment: Essential experience for the role.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team: Essential skill for the role.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and welfare requirements of a category 3 academy: Essential skill for the role.
