We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Band 7, BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioral Therapist to join our Mental Health Support Team, focusing on Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS). While we have secured funding for full-time roles, we are also open to applicants interested in part-time or term-time contracts.

The Mental Health Support Teams are part of an innovative initiative funded by NHS England, Health Education England, and various partners, aimed at enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people facing mild to moderate mental health challenges within educational settings. The primary objectives of the Mental Health Support Teams include:

  • Offering guidance and training to school personnel through consultations
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues, either individually or in groups
  • Assisting schools in developing a Comprehensive School Approach to Mental Health
Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be tasked with facilitating evidence-based CBT interventions in educational environments for children and young individuals aged 5-18. They will manage a caseload of young clients presenting with moderate mental health challenges and varying degrees of complexity. Additionally, the candidate will co-facilitate parenting programs based on CBT principles.

The candidate will collaborate closely with senior clinical staff to enhance the quality and efficacy of individual CBT-informed interventions provided. They will also play a vital role in staff development through supervision, training, and consultation, while promoting the application of CBT principles in clinical practice. A solid understanding of low-intensity CBT practices within the context of Mental Health Support Teams is essential.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will pursue a postgraduate qualification in supervising low-intensity CBT interventions to improve the clinical supervision offered to Early Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Children and Young Workers (CYWPs) within the Mental Health Support Team.

The position will be based at Maple House, with the possibility of working from other locations as required. This is a permanent role.

We expect a significant number of applications for this position, and we encourage interested candidates to submit their applications promptly.

For further details or informal discussions, please reach out to the Clinical Lead.
