About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Baler and Compactor Field Service Engineer to join our team at phs Wastekit. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining recycling equipment on a reactive and scheduled basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with call controllers and field service supervisors to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Plan daily work to maximize customer service, achieve high standards, and productivity using electronic and verbal communications.
  • Take ownership of engineering issues to ensure customers receive good service.
  • Achieve targets set by field service supervisors and be aware of customer service level agreements.
  • May be required to work out of area during varying workload volumes and engineer shortages.
Records and Documentation
  • Complete all paperwork and electronic data as required by phs Wastekit or customers according to company procedures.
  • Accurately record time, parts used, and other details electronically or manually as required.
  • Promptly acquire replacement parts to replenish van stock or parts specially ordered to return to a breakdown, mindful of customer SLAs.
  • Pass on new business leads to the sales department.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to understand hydraulic and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles.
  • Use and understand various electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Update engineering knowledge when able.
  • Use cost-effective but safe measures to carry out tasks.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required by the field service supervisor.
Standards
  • Comply with all requirements in the Work Instruction for Engineer Responsibilities.
  • Comply with instructions given by field service supervisors, managers, and directors.
  • Maintain and use company-issued equipment and vehicles in a safe manner and according to PHS Group policies.
  • Take responsibility for the safe keeping of stock and be accountable for stock balances.
  • Keep accurate records of stock usage and return documentation to the office in a timely manner.
  • Vans should be kept clean, tidy, and maintained as per MFM-02 Commercial Vehicle Transport Policy.
Desirable Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Ideal background in service engineering, electrical, or hydraulic with fault-finding and repair skills.
  • City & Guilds in electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • Competent in the use of electrical and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of single and three-phase electrical equipment and hydraulic circuits.
  • Mature, disciplined approach, and good personal administrative and customer care skills.
  • 17th edition electrical regulations/City & Guilds electrical and mechanical engineering.
