About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Psychology Assistant Practitioner to join our team at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Psychology Assistant Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients with severe and enduring mental health problems.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing brief low-intensity interventions to service users in a group and 1:1 format, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. You will also participate in ward-based activities such as safety huddles and risk huddles, and work closely with nurses, healthcare assistants, and occupational therapists as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

  • An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology.
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • Experience of work with people with mental health problems or disabilities, or other relevant problems or disabilities.
  • Ability to work independently, reliably, consistently, and with initiative, under the day-to-day direction of a qualified psychologist.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Further postgraduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, and/or research design and analysis.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of collecting research data, including questionnaire design and interviewing.
