Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified lawyer to join our team in Birmingham and provide advice to our Wealth Management business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework pertaining to securities and asset-based lending, equity and fixed income securities, and structured products or derivatives.
Responsibilities
- Advise on the legal and regulatory framework for our Wealth Management transaction-focused businesses.
- Advise our Wealth Management product specialists on documentation and transactions relating to securities and asset-based lending.
- Advise on the current regulatory regime in the EU and UK and work with internal and external counsel in other jurisdictions related to our business.
- Advise Private Wealth Advisors on all aspects of the client relationship, from pitches through to the structuring of accounts.
- Advise senior Wealth Management Management on a variety of lending and trading issues.
- Advise and liaise with our Wealth Management Compliance professionals on a wide range of lending and trading issues.
- Liaise with other lawyers in our Goldman Sachs Legal Division globally in relation to specific product or other issues.
Requirements
- We are targeting qualified lawyers in the 2-4 years PQE range, although we would also be willing to consider candidates with a different experience profile.
- Candidates will need to demonstrate an understanding of certain of the areas described above, in particular, knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework pertaining to one or more of the following: securities and asset-based lending; equity and fixed income securities and the operation of capital markets; or structured products or derivatives.
- Candidates are expected to have relevant post-qualification experience either with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
- The candidate should have good English language skills and knowledge of another major European language would be a plus.
