Job Summary

The successful candidate will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary CAMHS Service, working closely with the Youth Justice Service to provide mental health assessments and interventions for vulnerable children and young people. This role involves early intervention, ensuring access to mental health advice and support, and navigating local mental health systems. The post holder will provide consultation, training, and advice to YJS staff, parents, and other agencies.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Conduct high-quality mental health assessments for children and young people referred to YJS, as indicated.
  2. Identify the need for assessment through liaison with the Police, Courts, Probation, YJS, CAMHS, and other relevant agencies for young offenders with mental health issues.
  3. Provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic approaches.
  4. Offer consultation to YJS practitioners.
  5. Provide clinical and managerial supervision to the wider CAMHS team.
  6. Work as a co-therapist with other MDT members, as appropriate.
  7. Manage a complex caseload, undertaking case management responsibilities.
  8. Contribute to the development of the Oldham CAMHS Youth Justice Care Pathway.
