Principal Design Engineer

Keltbray is seeking a highly skilled Principal Design Engineer to join their team in Preston Brook, Runcorn. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading and creating designs for railway electrification projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement electrification design strategies in accordance with Keltbray's quality management system, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery.
- Design and develop railway electrification systems, including system, basic, allocation, and construction design, in compliance with international, national, and railway group standards.
- Act as a checker and approver of designs, ensuring they meet the required standards and quality.
- Apply Keltbray's design assurance processes to all allocated projects, ensuring they meet the company's quality and environmental procedures.
- Assist in determining design scope and valuation of design elements for electrification work during the tendering process.
- Conduct site surveys and lead the team of engineers and technicians in producing design calculations and drawings.
- Maintain coordination of feasibility studies, outline, and detailed design proposals.
- Approve the work of design engineers and CAD technicians, ensuring it meets the required standards.
- Manage the interfacing of allocated design teams with construction and commissioning teams for electrification design and construct projects.
- Assist in maintaining design procedures to ensure they meet Keltbray's quality and environmental procedures and current best engineering practice.
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
- 10+ years of proven railway electrification experience (15+ years if not Chartered).
- Demonstrate application of and compliance to engineering assurance processes and requirements specific to the discipline.
- Certification in CDM Regulations 2015 with a sound understanding of designers' and clients' requirements.
- General overall competence in design.
- Able to demonstrate meeting performance and knowledge requirements.
- Knowledge of OLE design range applicable to current projects.
- Sound understanding of Network Rail's requirements regarding the Risk Assessment process.
- Experience in commercial and design processes.
