We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Grade Ophthalmologist to join our team at SpaMedica Eye Hospitals in Southampton and Poole. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate professional to contribute to the delivery of high-quality ophthalmic services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care to patients undergoing cataract surgery, YAG capsulotomy, AMD review, and IVI services. They will work closely with our clinical and managerial teams to ensure the smooth operation of our clinical services, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing high-quality ophthalmic care to patients, including pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, YAG capsulotomy, AMD review, and IVI services.
  • Working collaboratively with our clinical and managerial teams to ensure the effective delivery of our clinical services.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Participating in teaching and training activities to support the development of our clinical teams.

Requirements:

  • Registration with the GMC and a Basic Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Part 1 FRCOphth and RCOphth Refraction Certificate.
  • At least three years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent) in a specialty training programme or equivalent experience in Ophthalmology.
  • Recent experience in ophthalmology within the NHS.
  • Able to use the slit-lamp indirect ophthalmoscopy and check intraocular pressures.
  • Ability to interpret OCT and ultrasound images.

Desirable:

  • Ability to use Medisoft or Medisight electronic patient record system.
  • Teaching and training experience.
  • Experience working in cataract pre-assessment clinics.

Working Arrangements:

  • This role is primarily based at Southampton and Poole, but travel to other SpaMedica Hospitals in the region may occasionally be required.
  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
