Position Overview
Please note, this role is based out of our Holborn Store Support Centre & Home. Colleagues in the team go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.

The Commercial Finance Team is pivotal in shaping and executing the strategy at Sainsbury's. In a dynamic industry that is constantly evolving, Finance plays a vital role in challenging existing processes and driving transformation. Our primary focus is on enhancing sales, profitability, return on investment, and cash flow alongside our non-financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and insights across various aspects of Food Commercial financial performance, including ownership of our periodic insights pack.
  • Manage all Food P&L systemic reporting, ensuring reconciliation between Onestream and SIMBA for accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Finance stakeholders, driving optimal financial outcomes for Sainsbury's by understanding commercial performance and its underlying drivers.
  • Take full ownership of non-core trading (Non-BU) and lead on key financial processes such as Corporate Plan, Budget, and Latest View.
  • Simplify complex financial systems and management interactions, understanding their financial implications and challenging current processes.
  • Oversee a third-party relationship with profit recovery auditors.
  • Maintain financial rigor, providing necessary challenges to ensure the robustness of financial figures while ensuring compliance with relevant financial accounting standards.
  • Supervise two Finance Analysts.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualified accountant - CIMA/ACCA/ACA.
  • Experience in large FMCG, Food, or Retail sectors.
  • Proficient in advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookups, and macros).
  • Effective communication skills with senior stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond accurately under pressure.
  • Strong impact and influence skills.
  • Ability to convey financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong networking and partnership abilities.
