As we prepare for this exciting phase, we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to play a crucial role in our mission to innovate and excel in engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
In the capacity of Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Provide technical leadership to the mechanical engineering team, focusing on non-infrastructure projects related to water and water recycling.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant legislation and standards while optimizing for efficiency and sustainability.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to guarantee timely project delivery, adherence to budget constraints, and maintenance of quality standards.
- Advocate for innovative solutions and the integration of digital technologies to improve project outcomes.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting their professional development within the mechanical engineering team.
Role Accountabilities
Engineering Leadership:
- Regularly report to the Principal Engineer and work closely with project stakeholders.
- Review design outputs for quality and compliance, providing mentorship to junior team members.
- Contribute to strategies for construction design management and commissioning.
- Drive initiatives focused on sustainability and explore modular construction methods.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure that all designs meet statutory and industry health and safety standards.
- Propose alternative solutions to enhance compliance and reduce overall costs.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and contribute to initiatives aimed at learning from past experiences.
Transformation:
- Embrace and implement digital technologies to boost project efficiency and accuracy.
- Support initiatives aimed at minimizing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable construction practices.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience
Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, along with proven experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the water sector. Strong leadership abilities, a history of mentoring junior engineers, and a comprehensive understanding of industry standards and regulations are essential. Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant engineering tools, coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills, is also required.
