About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at ABM UK, working on a variety of tasks related to vehicle maintenance and repair. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our fleet of vehicles is in top condition, adhering to strict company standards and health and safety guidelines.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine safety inspections, MOT preparations, and service vehicles to a higher standard than the minimum required by the DVSA.
  • Defect Rectification: Identify and rectify defects on vehicles, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard.
  • Breakdown Response: Attend promptly to vehicle breakdowns, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including job cards, safety inspections, and defect reports.
  • Workshop Maintenance: Ensure that the workshop is kept clean and tidy, adhering to company standards.
  • Health and Safety: Comply with company health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other reasonable work-related tasks as requested, including travel.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Relevant City & Guilds qualifications, such as NVQ 2 in mechanical commercial vehicles.
  • Experience: Previous experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably with a PCV/HGV license.
  • Skills: Excellent diagnostic skills, familiarity with Department of Transport Standards (DVSA), and good communication skills.
