Salary: Competitive

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at a major airport, working on the maintenance and repair of vehicles to strict company standards.

Reporting to the Supervisor into Fleet/Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet, adhering to all Health & Safety guidelines and regulations.

You'll need to be familiar with PCV/HGV maintenance, as well as being up to date with all current DVSA regulations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine safety inspections, MOT preparations, and service vehicles to a higher standard than DVSA minimum standard.
  • Rectify defects identified during inspections and drivers' requests.
  • Attend promptly to vehicle breakdowns as requested by the Fleet/Engineering Manager or Supervisor.
  • Complete job cards, safety inspections sheets, and drivers' defect reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
  • Comply with company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform other reasonable work-related tasks, including travel.
  • Work rotating shifts as required.

Requirements

  • PCV/HGV Licence desirable
  • Previous experience in vehicle maintenance
  • Relevant City & Guilds qualifications – NVQ 2 in mechanical commercial vehicles
  • Excellent diagnostic skills and familiarity with Department of Transport Standards (DVSA) desirable.
  • Strong team working and communication skills.
