Job Summary:
The University of Nottingham's Centre for Dairy Science Innovation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Dairy Manager to join our team. As a key member of our dairy farm operations, you will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the farm, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the dairy farm, including animal husbandry, stockmanship, and farm maintenance.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve farm productivity, animal welfare, and sustainability.
- Supervise and train farm staff to ensure they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with the farm team to achieve targets and goals.
- Monitor and control farm finances, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
- Minimum of HND/BTEC in Agriculture or equivalent qualifications.
- Significant work experience in a relevant role, preferably in a dairy farm or livestock management setting.
- Full current driving license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Working Hours:
The post will work a minimum of 36.25 hours per week, with regular overtime paid at x 1.5 rate for any hours worked over 36.25 per week and at x 2 rate for bank holidays and university closure days.

The post is offered on a permanent contract.
