Mechanical Maintenance Specialist

Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering mechanical repair and maintenance expertise, including fault identification and analysis, to facilitate repairs and enhancements. Your role will involve conducting inspections, adjustments, and calibrations to meet the standards established by the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute maintenance and repair tasks in alignment with the operational and maintenance plan/budget to enhance the reliability and availability of plant and machinery while minimizing maintenance costs.
2. Ensure that all mechanical maintenance activities for operational functions and equipment are performed effectively.
3. Conduct planned and preventative maintenance in accordance with established maintenance schedules.
4. Perform daily inspections to identify, report, and rectify faults, thereby reducing breakdown occurrences and enhancing plant reliability.
Safety and Compliance:
5. Carry out risk assessments and adhere to safe working practices related to maintenance operations.
6. Assist in the start-up and shut-down processes to optimize plant efficiency.
7. Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment to achieve site productivity targets and maintenance KPIs.
Maintenance Duties:
8. Maintain and repair static plant and equipment within your area of expertise.
9. Coordinate planned shutdowns to ensure safe and efficient maintenance activities.
10. Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and other 5S-related tasks as necessary.
11. Keep accurate records of maintenance activities for future reference.
Additional Responsibilities:
12. Undertake duties at other Heidelberg Materials locations as required.
13. Ensure the adequacy and upkeep of workshops, equipment, and facilities.
14. Mentor and supervise Apprentice Maintenance Technicians.
15. Complete maintenance tasks using the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintain current records.
Qualifications:
16. Report any issues or defects related to static plant to management.
17. Conduct risk assessments addressing health, safety, and environmental concerns.
18. Operate plant and machinery in an energy-efficient manner.
19. Assist in the implementation and commissioning of capital projects.
20. Comply with the site’s Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) system and inventory management software.
21. Contribute to the maintenance budgeting process.
Skills and Experience:
22. Proficient in practical burning and welding operations.
23. Time-served apprentice or possess an NVQ in maintenance engineering, or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering role.
24. Computer literacy is essential.
Working Hours:
Rotative shift pattern, totaling 42 hours per week.
