We are seeking a highly skilled Biotechnology Research Scientist to join our team at 2 Sigma. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for executing precision fermentation runs using state-of-the-art equipment, including shake flasks and bioreactors.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments to optimize fermentation processes and improve product yields.
- Develop and maintain data reports, batch records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including downstream processing scientists, strain engineering, and analytics, to drive innovation and improve product quality.
- Troubleshoot challenges and unexpected outcomes during experiments and other processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Perform regular equipment maintenance and cleaning to ensure production capacity and quality.
- Strong background in microbiology and aseptic technique.
- Recent practical experience in fermentation of yeast strains for protein production.
- Experience operating shake flasks and bioreactors of approximately 1-30L.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a detail-oriented and proactive approach.
- Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
- Experience working with filamentous fungi.
