Overview

We are in search of a Senior Cargo Analyst with extensive expertise in cargo trading, specifically in the wet bulk sector. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of sanctions compliance and maritime regulations. This role is pivotal in providing a detailed analysis of cargo data over a defined engagement period, with the opportunity for extension based on performance. Successful project outcomes may lead to a full-time role.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-5 years in open-source intelligence (OSINT) research, data analytics, or modeling; experience as a senior analyst or team leader in business intelligence or consultancy.
  • Consulting & Analysis: Demonstrated ability as a consultant or lead analyst on intricate datasets, delivering operational models in a dynamic environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven skills in engaging with stakeholders, including external clients.
  • Strategic Thinking: A customer-focused mindset with a track record of fostering product innovation.
  • Problem Solving: A proactive approach to resolving business challenges.
  • Communication: Capability to distill complex concepts into clear methodology documents and articulate strategic insights to senior leadership.
  • Project Management: Strong project management abilities, adept at prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Task Execution: Ensure all project tasks are completed within the established timelines.
  • Customer Requirements: Accurately capture and address customer needs, ensuring deliverables align with project objectives.
  • Agile Work: Function within an agile framework, delivering results in bi-weekly sprints while driving commercial success.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, data engineering, data science, and front-end development teams.
  • Process Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of key processes and methodologies, providing clear recommendations.
  • Training & Onboarding: Facilitate training and onboarding for new team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a subject-matter expert, participating in client discussions alongside sales and product management teams.

  • Maritime Industry Knowledge: A thorough understanding of various segments within the maritime sector is advantageous.

  • Commercial Acumen: Familiarity with managing CAPEX budgets and engaging in product discovery.

  • Presentation Skills: Proficient in delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer Query Resolution: Background in addressing complex customer inquiries.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in big data management tools such as SQL, Python, or experience with natural language processing (NLP) datasets is a plus.
