Senior Nurse Practitioner
NHS Scotland is one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We are dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support to a diverse population.
The working schedule consists of Day Shifts from Monday to Sunday.
As part of our commitment to enhancing work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without any alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time employees. Please note that while we aim to implement this change across all service areas, some may require temporary adjustments, necessitating up to an additional 30 minutes of work per week until new schedules are established.
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Nurse Practitioner or a trainee to join our dedicated and innovative team within the Acute Receiving Units and the Ambulatory Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is a pivotal moment for the development of our ambulatory care and acute receiving services, with the ANP role being crucial in advancing unscheduled care services.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who demonstrates flexibility, diligence, and professionalism. The ability to maintain composure under pressure is essential, along with outstanding communication and organizational skills. Candidates must be capable of collaborating effectively within a team while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
The successful candidate will leverage their advanced clinical expertise and knowledge, employing high-level critical thinking and clinical judgment skills. This role involves autonomous decision-making and problem-solving.
Essential Qualifications: Candidates must be a Registered General Nurse on the NMC register. It is required that applicants have, or are in the process of obtaining, a relevant Master's level qualification in Advanced Practice, which demonstrates proficiency in clinical assessment, reasoning, decision-making, diagnostics, anatomy, and physiology, as well as being a registered non-medical prescriber. Ideally, the candidate should possess experience in acute medicine and/or ambulatory care settings or be a qualified RGN willing to undertake the ANP training pathway.
The shift pattern for this position includes 12-hour shifts over a 7-day period, including public holidays.
NHS Scotland is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and encourages applications from all community sectors. We take pride in our diverse workforce and promote a culture of inclusion throughout the organization.
As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, NHS Scotland is dedicated to being a Forces Friendly Employer, recognizing and valuing military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment process.
