Position Overview

As a vital member of Kingston University's Server and Storage division, you will engage in a growing range of cloud operational tasks as we transition to a fully native AWS environment.

Our team oversees the university's data centers and cloud infrastructure, and we seek a proficient technician capable of managing their own workload and executing projects independently. A keen interest in cloud technologies and a willingness to acquire cloud-related skills are essential for this position. In the immediate future, we will also maintain a server environment on-site.

The ideal candidate will possess experience as a systems administrator, with proficiency in Windows and/or Linux systems, ideally with exposure to both platforms.

Candidate Profile

We are embarking on our journey towards a native AWS cloud infrastructure. While prior cloud experience is advantageous, we are committed to training and developing our current staff. This role is particularly suited for individuals eager to enhance their cloud competencies while working in an operational capacity.

The successful applicant will have a track record of working autonomously as well as collaboratively on projects. Effective communication with service stakeholders across the university is crucial, making strong interpersonal skills a key requirement.

Although the job description outlines various competencies, familiarity with Windows or Linux systems and cloud technologies will be fundamental to this role. Knowledge of data centers, hardware, automation, and VMWare will be considered beneficial.
