Job Title: Senior Buyer
Location: West Midlands
Hours of Work: 08:00 - 17:15 Mon – Thurs / 08:00 - 12:00 Friday

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team in the automotive retail sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing new tenders through our supply chain, from enquiry to production order launch. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, who can work under pressure to satisfy production demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, providing clear communication on day-to-day procurement activities.
    • Work closely with suppliers to review tenders and ensure the best solution is provided.
    • Liaise with the wider company team when making supplier selection decisions.
    • Clearly communicate with Procurement/Commercial and offer multiple business cases to meet customer needs.
    • Support both the Procurement and Commercial Manager as required.
    • Escalate any unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.
  2. Safety: Conduct yourself in a safe and respectful manner, ensuring the ongoing health and safety of yourself and others.
  3. Quality:
    • Meticulously review RFQ tenders to ensure solutions meet expectations.
    • Accurately complete quote documentation to capture all costs and avoid hidden charges.
    • Review and create new vendors prior to production order launch with correct terms.
    • Update BC prior to production order launch with correct vendor/pricing/lead time information.
  4. Cost:
    • Work with suppliers to negotiate cost reductions.
    • Reject or defer cost increases through negotiation.
    • Identify methods to increase buying power with selected suppliers.
    • Ensure payment terms are in line with/exceed standard terms.
  5. Delivery: Update BC with correct lead time information to ensure procurement activity aligns with customer expectations.
  6. People: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain working relationships.
