Job Title: Senior Buyer
Location: West Midlands
Hours of Work: 08:00 - 17:15 Mon – Thurs / 08:00 - 12:00 Friday

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Buyer to manage new tenders through our supply chain from enquiry to production order launch. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work under pressure to satisfy production demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication:
    • Build and maintain supplier relationships, providing clear communication on day-to-day procurement activities.
    • Work with suppliers to review tenders and ensure correct information is sent.
    • Liaise with the wider company team when making supplier selection decisions.
    • Be clear and concise when reviewing tenders with Procurement/Commercial and offer multiple business cases to meet customer needs.
    • Support both the Procurement and Commercial Manager as appropriate.
    • Escalate unresolved issues to the Procurement Manager.
  2. Safety: Conduct oneself in a safe and respectful manner, ensuring the ongoing health and safety of yourself and others.
  3. Quality:
    • Meticulously review RFQ tenders to ensure solutions meet expectations.
    • Accurately complete quote documentation to capture all costs and avoid hidden charges.
    • Review and create new vendors prior to production order launch with correct terms.
    • Update BC prior to production order launch with correct vendor/pricing/lead time information.
  4. Cost:
    • Work with suppliers to negotiate cost reductions.
    • Reject/defer cost increases through negotiation.
    • Identify methods to increase buying power with selected suppliers.
    • Ensure payment terms are in line with/exceed standard terms.
  5. Delivery: Update BC with correct lead time information to ensure procurement activity aligns with customer expectations.
  6. People: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain working relationships.
