About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Groundwater team as a Senior Hydrogeologist. The successful candidate will apply specialist scientific and technical skills to deliver and develop research projects for the British Geological Survey (BGS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply specialist hydrogeology, numerical, and geoscience skills to deliver and develop research projects for BGS.
  • Lead projects and teams in hydrogeological data collection, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Write and deliver publications, presentations, and funding applications.
  • Build engagement and collaboration with internal and external partners and customers, including overseas.
  • Play an active part in the groundwater science community, publishing research and presenting at conferences.
  • Manage projects and people.
Requirements
  • A PhD with a strong element of hydrogeology or water resource science (or a hydrogeology or closely related MSc, plus significant postgraduate work experience in a hydrogeology research environment).
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including report writing, publication of research, and oral presentation.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in the UK and abroad for meetings and/or fieldwork.
  • Experience of specialist hydrogeological analysis techniques, such as aquifer tests, environmental tracers, or hydrogeochemistry.
  • Experience of managing people and/or projects.
  • A strong scientific research profile.
