About the position

We are seeking a skilled IT Hardware Specialist to join our team at Jane Street. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for managing our desktop hardware devices and expanding our portfolio of hardware offerings in both our work-from-home and office environments.

With a deep understanding of computer hardware, desktop peripherals, and audio and video conferencing equipment, you will work closely with our IT team to research and test hardware options, providing detailed recommendations on the best solutions for our needs.

Your daily work will involve a wide range of hardware types, including remote working solutions, workstations, monitors, and desktop peripherals such as microphones, headsets, and other interface technologies. You will be expected to proactively search for opportunities to innovate and upgrade our existing technology, ensuring a seamless user experience for our colleagues.

As new technology is introduced, you will assess its long-term performance using both automatically generated metrics and end-user feedback to inform future product selection.

About you
  • 4+ years of experience in a similar role with a strong knowledge of computer hardware and desktop peripherals
  • Ability to provide in-depth written assessments of relative performance between similar hardware options
  • Experience with integrating and troubleshooting driver issues within a Windows Operating System
  • Highly organized self-starter with exceptional attention to detail
  • Reliable, courteous, and flexible team player with a customer-first mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to analyze and explain complex technical problems
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automated OS builds and deployment
  • Fluency in English required
