Contract: Part Time / 15 hours / Permanent
Salary: From £23,795 per annum FTE (dependent on qualification/s and experience)
Location: Bury St Edmunds
We are seeking a part-time, nursery-based Kitchen Assistant to join our Bright Horizons Bury St Edmunds Nursery team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of nutritious meals for children, minimizing food waste.
- In the absence of the Chef, take charge of the kitchen, ensuring all dietary requirements are met and communicated to the team.
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health, and safety, and safeguarding.
- Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy, and safe environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting.
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) - must be obtained on day 1 in post.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure.
