Early Years Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Early Years Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Bury St Edmunds Nursery.
About the RoleThis is a part-time position, working 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday. As an Early Years Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, supporting the Chef in food preparation, and ensuring the well-being and safety of the children in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and cook healthy meals for children, adhering to dietary requirements and minimizing food waste.
- Support the Chef in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Assist with meal planning, ordering, and stock management.
- Ensure the kitchen is a safe and welcoming environment for children and staff.
- Work collaboratively with the Chef and other team members to maintain a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a childcare setting.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post.
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
