About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Ulster University. As a key member of our Infrastructure and Operations department, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing our enterprise infrastructure technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement enterprise infrastructure technologies, including computing, storage, backup, DR, and virtualisation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions that meet the University's current and future infrastructure requirements.
  • Contribute to technology solution design and implementation, complex problem resolution, and ongoing service enhancement.
  • Work closely with other key stakeholders within the Digital Services Directorate and beyond to ensure seamless delivery of infrastructure services.
About You
  • Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in an Information Technology or Computer Science related discipline, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
  • Have expertise in deploying, managing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure technologies and hosted environments.
  • Demonstrate operational experience in the design, implementation, and management of two or more of the following:
  • Automation Technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (VMware vSAN)
  • Data Protection and Recovery Technologies
  • Storage Architectures (SAN, NAS, vSAN)
  • Containerisation, Orchestration, CI/CD (Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins)
  • High Performance Computing
  • Experience in the deployment, development, maintenance, and support of Linux enterprise server platforms.
  • Evidence of having performed proactive performance monitoring, analysis, alerting, reporting, tuning, and utilising appropriate enterprise level tools and techniques.
