Substance Misuse Support Specialist (Primary Care)

Role Overview:

The primary objective of this position is to assist individuals whose lives are impacted by alcohol and drug consumption (mainly non-opiate substances).

As a vital member of the Forward Leeds Focused Intervention Team for Primary Care, you will play a key role in the Forward Leeds drug and alcohol support service. Your responsibilities will include providing interventions to individuals who recognize their need for assistance in managing their substance use and are seeking help through their healthcare provider. This will primarily focus on alcohol consumption, but may also encompass non-opiate drugs.

We encourage candidates with personal experiences related to substance misuse, who may be interested in entering the field of substance support services.

Candidate Requirements:

We seek individuals with a background in supporting those facing challenges related to alcohol and/or drugs, and who can offer structured assistance through needs assessment and care planning for treatment objectives, as well as delivering organized one-on-one interventions.

You should be capable of working autonomously within Primary Healthcare environments, while also collaborating effectively as part of a citywide team. A proactive approach to engaging with individuals and partner organizations is essential.
