Job Title: Internal Auditor

Hampshire County Council is seeking a skilled Internal Auditor to join their team. As an Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality internal audit reviews and providing assurance to senior managers, Chief Officers, and Members.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of internal audit reviews to various partners and clients across the South of England.
  • Use a risk-based approach to review risks facing clients and design a program of work to review, evaluate, and test internal controls.
  • Form an opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the control framework in place to provide assurance to senior managers, Chief Officers, and Members.
  • Negotiate required actions to address identified weaknesses and agree timescales and responsibilities.
  • Undertake and supervise the completion of work in the audit certification of grant claims and ensure compliance with grant instructions.
  • Contribute to the development of the audit practice by designing audit programs and implementing new approaches to audit work.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP) or equivalent relevant qualification, with significant experience.
