The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Design Manager to join our team in London. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality design solutions to our clients and driving business growth.

The Position

As Principal Design Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Managing and maintaining high-quality client-facing relationships and internal management.
  2. Leading and mentoring a team of designers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  3. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as quality assurance and project performance.
  4. Supporting project delivery, team performance, and business development.
  5. Contributing to commercial and business planning processes.
  6. Ensuring timely and accurate procedures for the management and issue of invoices, as well as preparation and updating of WiP and cash flow projections.
  7. Managing consultation with statutory bodies and authorities, including pre-application consultation, planning the engagement process, and ensuring integration into the integrated design programme.
  8. Producing an integrated design schedule following liaison with all Design Team members and including key milestones laid out by the Client.
  9. Monitoring design progress and identifying areas of risk or concern.
  10. Identifying design deliverables, who they will be prepared by, and when they need to be delivered.
  11. Producing project reports and tracking documents to the client's requirements, managing input from others.
  12. Experience in development and implementation of design management tools and procedures.
  13. Proven experience in excess of 5 years, working alongside Design Teams with a solid understanding of the design process.
  14. Enthusiastic, driven, and dynamic self-starter with career progression aspirations.
  15. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project or similar Project Programming Tools.
  16. Proven ability to deliver high-value projects with fees up to £5m in value.
  17. Flexible and willing to travel regularly to service international projects and customers.
