About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Outreach and Support Worker in Bristol. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing brief assessments and interventions to children and young people who have engaged in problematic/harmful sexual behavior, as well as their parents/carers and support network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake brief assessments and interventions with young people and their parents/carers, providing assertive outreach within the community.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary risk assessments and develop interventions, tools, and resources to support staff working with children, young people, and their parents/carers.
  • Work collaboratively with young people, parents/carers, and support networks to develop strengths and address risk/concern factors.
  • Respond sensitively to the needs of individuals, promoting independence and self-confidence through self-help resources.
  • Support the team in developing practice resources and contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse and harm.
  • Develop knowledge and practice relevant to the role through training, supervision, and peer support.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • An appropriate NVQ level 3 qualification in mental health, social work, criminal justice, or youth work, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have engaged in risky behavior and their parents/carers.
  • Relevant experience in health, social care, education, or related voluntary organizations.
  • A good understanding of approaches to working with children and young people who have harmed sexually or engaged in behavior that may put themselves or others at risk.
  • Experience of working with diverse communities.
  • The ability to form and sustain working relationships with service users and parents/carers, demonstrating an understanding of when a more assertive approach might be needed.
  • An understanding of and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Well-developed listening and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with service users, carers, colleagues, and statutory/voluntary agencies.
  • Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce letters, reports, and maintain accurate records.
