Position: Primary Teaching Assistant
Salary Range: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education North Yorkshire is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant for an Alternative Provision in York, North Yorkshire.

Responsibilities of the Primary Teaching Assistant:

  • Collaborate with class teachers, the SENCO, and external organizations to ensure high-quality educational delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with young individuals and create an inclusive environment.
  • Work alongside class teachers to support students in reaching their full potential through motivation and encouragement.
  • Establish and maintain SEND-friendly classrooms and learning spaces.
  • Provide assistance to children and young people both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Lead group activities, supervise projects, and facilitate discussions.
  • Ensure students remain focused during group activities, collaborate effectively, and resolve any conflicts that may arise.

Requirements for the Role:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational role with primary-aged students.
  • Confidence in managing behavior in a school environment, utilizing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Knowledgeable about various additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH.
  • Ability to quickly establish positive relationships with students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education. DBS sponsorship is available for this position.
