Position Overview:

The successful candidate will oversee the operational management, ongoing enhancement, and promotion of Building Control Services.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: As a pivotal member of the Corporate Leadership Group, you will play an essential role in guiding the Council towards success, fostering collaboration across various departments. You will provide effective project leadership to ensure that interdisciplinary and service-related initiatives achieve their intended results.
Performance Management: Collaborate with management and colleagues to establish clear outcomes, set performance targets, and monitor progress within a culture of continuous improvement. You will effectively plan, manage, and deliver individual workload requirements in alignment with service performance standards.
Business Development: In light of expanding commercial activities, you will engage with partner organizations and be accountable for the successful delivery of building control contracts, including contract oversight and compliance with evolving legislation.
Service Commissioning: You will commission services and activities to ensure optimal outcomes for service users while delivering maximum value for money in accordance with the Council's commissioning and contract management frameworks.
Partnership Building: Cultivate strong internal and external partnerships to facilitate the efficient delivery of services, focusing on outcome-oriented approaches. You will support the commitment to community cohesion, diversity, and social inclusion.
Innovation and Technology: Leverage new technologies, particularly Google tools, to adopt modern agile working practices, enhance customer service, and minimize paper-based processes.
Essential Experience:
Proven experience in Change Management, with a track record of implementing innovative working methods in complex environments is crucial.
In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations to ensure compliance of proposed designs and construction work is essential.
Essential Qualifications:
Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) at Class 3 and Class 4 is mandatory.
- Chartered Building Surveyor: MRICS is preferred.
- A relevant degree in Building Surveying/Construction is required.
Additional Information:
Working hours: 36 hours per week.
