About the Role:

The Principal Moderator is a senior assessment expert responsible for ensuring the standards of internally assessed and externally moderated components are maintained and consistent with the unit specification and assessment criteria.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement assessment strategies to ensure accuracy and consistency in the evaluation of student work.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and maintain assessment materials, including question papers and marking schemes.
  • Provide guidance and support to moderators and assessors to ensure they meet the required standards and apply the assessment criteria accurately.
  • Contribute to the development of awarding processes and advise on the application of assessment criteria to ensure fairness and consistency.
  • Work with the team to identify and address any issues or concerns related to assessment and moderation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in assessment and moderation, with a strong understanding of the subject matter and assessment criteria.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience of managing people and teams, with the ability to provide guidance and support to others.
