About Desborough Surgery
Desborough Surgery is a well-established practice serving 14,000 patients across two sites in High Wycombe, a large, diverse town in Buckinghamshire.
We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and excellent team at both our branches.
The successful candidate will work as a member of a cohesive team consisting of General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, and Administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for:
- Greeting patients in a friendly, courteous, and welcoming manner, whether face-to-face or by telephone
- Undertaking administrative tasks to ensure the efficient running of the practice computer system
- Managing appointments, recalls, and patient records
- Responding to patient queries and requests in a timely and friendly manner
- Ensuring accurate and efficient use of the computerized appointment system
- Preparing consulting rooms and managing medical records
- Operating the telephone system and handling patient calls
- Performing start and end of day procedures
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Basic IT skills and ability to learn new systems
- Confidentiality and discretion when handling patient information
- Flexibility to work morning and afternoon shifts, including occasional evenings and Saturdays
